    I recommend you file bankruptcy. Most regulators will require you to either pay outstanding collections and charged off accounts or file bankruptcy. Judgments need to be settled or paid. Or 50% down payment and enter into a payment agreement.

We are looking to apply for a mortage loan and while we meet most requirements (down payment, credit score, debt to income ratio) my husband a Portuguese citizen and had to wait for his green card to arrive in order to work so he does not meet the 2 year requirement.     I am permanently disabled, I am an insured driver, had a car accident 4 years ago and I am being sued. My insurance company is handling this .. are my assets protected because of the total disability…or will this prevent me from getting a mortgage loan?     I have been reviewing your website in regards to Home Loans and being able to finance when others cannot.

    We are currently trying to get a Loan Modification on our mortgage. We have a current Chapter 13 in which the mortgage was granted a relief from stay due to payments missed.

    We do have equity in our home and I would like to refinance and take cash out to pay off the entire bankruptcy.
